INSTITUTION: University of Belgrade – Faculty of Organizational Sciences

TITLE: Full Professor

AREAS OF PROFESSIONAL AND SCIENTIFIC INTEREST: Environmental management, Sustainable development, Circular Economy, Environmental risk management, Green Marketing

I have an MSc and a PhD in the scientific subject of environmental management, which I have been researching and teaching for more than 27 years, having begun my university career in this discipline. I maintained a balance between my professional and personal life, in which I have always respected nature and protected the environment. The multidisciplinary nature of environmental management also allowed me to satisfy my scientific curiosity. The results of this important science and education with ecological value attitudes represent a necessity. They not only affect the improvement and increase individual and general environmental awareness but also strengthen the proactive role of experts capable of applying the results of ecological science in practice.

Apart from the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, I am also engaged in studies at the University of Belgrade. I was involved in doctoral academic studies at the Military Academy of the University of Defense and MSc studies at the Faculty of Administration of the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. I am the head of the MSc academic studies in Circular Economy at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences and the president of the Program Council of the MSc academic studies in Business Performance Management at the University of Belgrade.

I was the Deputy President of the Faculty Council from 2015 to 2018, Head of the Department for Management of Technology, Innovation, and Development from 2019 to 2021, and the Deputy Head of the Department from 2017 to 2019. In addition, I have been a member of the Council for Studies at the University of Belgrade since 2017 and the Council of Scientific Fields of Technical Sciences at the University of Belgrade since 2020.

I have participated in two TEMPUS projects: Production and Profitability improvement in Serbia Enterprises by adopting the Lean Thinking Philosophy and strengthening Enterprise – Academia connections – LeanEA, 511084-TEMPUS-1-2010-1-RS-TEMPUS-JPHES and Conversion Courses for Unemployed University Graduates in Serbia – ConCur,145009-TEMPUS-2009-RS-JPHES and one the Erasmus+ Programme: Erasmus+K2 Programme of the European Union – Information Security Services Education in Serbia (ISSES), 586474-EPP-1-2017-1-RS-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP. I was the principal investigator of the project Vibe – Venture Initiative for the Balkan Europe, The South East Europe Programme, SEE/D/0238/1.2.X. I am currently engaged in two Erasmus+ Programme: Circle U. European University Alliance, European Universities Initiative, 101004062, Erasmus Mundus Design Measures (EMDM) – Resource and Energy Efficiency and Circular Economy, 101082540 – REE-CIRCLE, and PANACEA project, funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia. I am a member of the current Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 776751 CINDERELA project’s Stakeholder Panel in Circular Economy in construction waste.

I am the founder and head of the Center for Environmental Management and Sustainable Development at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences. Also, I am a member of the Committee of the Inter-University Sustainable Development Research Programme – IUSDRP (Research and Transfer Centre “Sustainability and Climate Change Management” (FTZ-NK), Haw Hamburg, Germany).

I mentored students of the Faculty of Organizational Sciences who participated in and won the global Circular Economy case study competition for the textile industry Global Circular Challenge 2021 (the students were awarded the Svetosavska Award for 2021, winning first place in this competition). Also, I mentored students who participated in the European competition “The European Ethics Bowl” in 2021.

I authored or co-authored over 165 scientific papers, two university textbooks, one monograph, four chapters in international monographs, and “Guidelines for public participation in environmental protection” (European Agency for Reconstruction). I also presented many papers at international and national scientific meetings.

Guided by the wise words of George Chapman: “To be a good teacher, you have to learn yourself constantly”, I approached the PANACEA project with great enthusiasm, happy not only because of the cooperation with my colleagues from the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering, and Faculty of Economics, but also the conviction of the strong synergy of the gathered team. Not only that my expectations were met, but beyond that. I look forward to each of our meetings and our work on activities, but first of all, new knowledge from the field of the current and future direction of Sharing Economy development, which I will be happy to integrate into my lectures from the next school year. Furthermore, I look forward to seeing how the idea of Sharing Economy is “shared” during and after our PANACEA project and begins to “live” both in academia and practice.
