Wim Vanhaverbeke, PhD

Wim Vanhaverbeke is Professor Digital Strategy and Innovation at the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Antwerp. His current research focuses on the implications of digital strategies and management challenges of innovation ecosystems in healthcare, agriculture and energy. He published in different international journals such as Organization Science, Research Policy, Journal of Product Innovation Management, California Management Review, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Small Business Economics, Journal of Business Venturing, Technovation, etc. He is co-editor with Henry Chesbrough and Joel West of “Open Innovation: Researching a New Paradigm” (OUP, 2006), “New frontiers in open innovation” (OUP, 2014) and “The Oxford Handbook of Open Innovation” (OUP 2023). He published a management book “Managing open innovation in SMEs” (CUP – 2017) and an academic volume “Researching open innovation in SMEs” (World Scientific Press – 2018).

He is editor-in-chief of Technovation and a dedicated digital transformation and innovation ecosystem researcher collaborating with different partners around the globe. He established the European Innovation Forum with Henry Chesbrough in 2012 and is co-organizer of the World Open Innovation Conference 2016. He is a frequently asked speaker at leading international conferences and an adviser for several large companies. He consults and organizes workshops for both large incumbents as well as for technology start-ups.

His contributions to the academic community have been acknowledged with his inclusion in the World Top 100 Scientists 2024 list (Business Management / Business Administration) of the AD Scientific Index.

Ching T. Liao, PhD

Ching T. Liao is an Assistant Professor of business management at CUNEF business school, while before that she acted as Assistant Professor at NEOMA Business School in France for four years. Research fields which have attracted her interest are: Research & Development strategy, catch-up process, innovation management, productivity, collaborative and open innovation, entrepreneurship in the informal economy, and critical factors in developing countries.

She holds a Ph.D. from IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MSc from the University Pompeu Fabra. She was a visiting scholar at Deusto Business School (San Sebastian, Spain) and Copenhagen Business School (CBS) in Denmark. She is a review editor at Technovation since 2023.

John W. Cadogan, PhD

John W. Cadogan is Professor in Marketing at the University of Leicester, UK. His current and recent visiting positions include a Lifetime Honorary Professorship at LUT University, Finland, and other universities in Europe and Asia. He undertakes substantive research in the areas of international marketing, strategy, and sales, and methodological research that focuses on issues that relate to philosophy of science in business research.

He has published on these topics in a wide range of outlets, including in the Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and International Journal of Research in Marketing. His research has been recognised with numerous prizes and awards from journals (including the European Journal of Marketing and the Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management) and professional associations (including the American Marketing Association and the European Marketing Academy).

Most recently, he received the International Marketing Trends 2022 Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award, while the 2023 Stanford University author database lists him in the World’s Top 2% of Marketing Scientists based on citations.

He is Editor-in-Chief of the International Marketing Review (since 2014), and sits on the editorial boards of several other journals.

Pietro Gennari

Pietro Gennari was the Chief Statistician of the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. In this role, he was responsible for leading the methodological development, capacity building and global monitoring of the FAO-relevant SDG indicators. He also coordinated the FAO statistical system, by fostering the quality and harmonization of FAO statistical processes and outputs as well as by ensuring the corporate implementation of international statistical standards and best practices.

During the period 2013-2017 he served as Chair of the Chief Statisticians of the UN system, co-Chair of the Committee for the Coordination of Statistical Activities (CCSA) and Chair of the Committee on Agricultural Statistics of the International Statistical Institute. During this period, he played a leading role in the advancement of the coordination of the global statistical system, leading in particular the preparation of the joint UN contribution to the selection of the streamlined list of global SDG indicators.

Pietro Gennari has over 30 years of professional experience in the main areas of official statistics and in managing statistical programmes, both at the national and international levels. Before joining FAO, he worked for the Italian National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) and for the UN Regional Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
